I report for jury selection at 8:30 am! Actually, I am kind of intrigued by the prospect and wouldn't mind getting selected.

Why Am I Still Awake? Pt III (Tue 10 Apr 2007)
I think that I am incapable of sleep prior to 2am, according to recent trends.
Either that, or I am incapable of abandoning my Internet Mommy friends (my best friends, isn't that pathetic) and choosing not to read just one more chapter. I have no self-control whatsoever in this regard.
Although it was pretty cute...tonight Torrin, Mira, and I read 3 more chapters of our current kids' book, Holes by Louis Sachar. At the end of each chapter (we're getting near the end) Torrin's eyes grew wide, and he would say, "No! No! Keep reading! Please!" It melts my heart to hear this 5 year old person get so excited about a story.

Hey, I know I´m far away, but I´d still like to think we´re close. I miss you and think about you more often than you might suspect. I´m really excited to see how much the kids have grown up and for us to go out-just me and you!--Edie

Why Am I Still Awake? Pt II
We had a lock-in last night at the Indian Center. Translation: about 45 kids ages 5 and up, all night long. There were kindergartners doing cartwheels and backflips at 2am.

Care for a Caterpillar?
That pic of Mira was take last weekend at Pioneers Park. In the fast-approaching morning, we are off to Nelson for my littlest sister's 4th birthday party. In the time in between, this just-ended workweek, I logged 11.5 hrs today, 10 yesterday, and 12.5 on Wednesday, with piddly "normal" Monday and Tuesday.

Torrin's findings on Tuesday (yesterday, March 13th):
1. Our speedometer "goes up by twenties," and
2. Cow poop is stinkier than a skunk.

Been a long time, been a long time, been a long, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Well not really, but it sounded like a good title. I'm busy, as usual, with the children and working at the Indian Center. If you would like to see pictures from our trip to Kansas City last weekend, go here: http://picasaweb.google.com/lajacinthe

Rest In Peace, Mark Fire Thunder
Such a strange thing, to see a person one day, apparently fine, and the next, hear that they have passed on.
An eagle was seen circling the Indian Center on Monday; Tuesday morning, Lillian Fire Thunder woke to find her husband forever sleeping. Her first telephone call upon this revelation was not to 911, but to the Indian Center.Just one of many examples of the Indian Center's importance to Native Americans in our community.

Thank You, Mason
Funny how I am addressing this post to someone who has never, to date, looked at this page.
Invariably, it is necessary that I use this space, as it is highly available, to thank him for the washer and dryer which he bought for me (us, as in my little family living in this house, which includes myself as well as Mira and Torrin but not Mason himself).
I've had a couple of inquiries as to Why Mason is being nice. Well, I don't know, but I certainly won't question it until given cause to wonder.

Hey, that´s cool! I know how much having laudry facilities in-house helps--especially you with 2 youngsters! That sucks about your class. I guess there´s always next quarter. Maybe the schedule will be better, too. Anyway, I thought I´d pop you comment cherry and say HI!!! --Edie

Ahh, The Sweet Scent of Failure...
Well, really, there's nothing sweet about it.
What happened is this: I had to drop my Anatomy class.
Torrin (and Mira, to a lesser degree) was sick all week two weeks ago. He missed three days of school, and should have missed all five, had he not had a dose of Ibuprofen before going. On one of his miserable days, when Mira was also not so hot, I had a really rough time getting everyone out of the door early enough. End result: I was 12 minutes late to class. Well, they were already done with the quiz. You can't miss any quizzes. If you do, they take your lowest score and use it twice.
And of course, the quiz before that had been really rotten for me (another crappy story...we had gone over three chapters the week before, and I studied the two later ones, only to find out when I got to class that the quiz didn't mention any of what I had studied). Sooooo...even though lab is worth only 30% of the grade, I didn't want to bog down my class grade with a cruddy lab grade. I feel pretty stupid about the whole thing. But I guess it's a chance to get a different lab instructor next time...I really didn't like the guy I had anyway.
:(

It Sure Doesn't Seem Like 11 Days...
Since I last posted a message! Sheesh! And to think I feel less busy now that I did two months ago.
I'm having a bit of a morning problem. Actually, two problems.
The first is that I have to be in class at 8. Torrin cannot be at school any earlier than 8:30. Problem evident.
The other problem is me. I cannot wake up in the morning when it is pitch black outside. I'm sorry, morning is supposed to include the sun shining on your face. 6 or 7 am in December or January does not include such a thing.

Ugh...I have totally been there with the class/work and childcare issue. It SUCKS. Those are the mornings I wish I was married....or at least had someone in the house to assist me with all of my needs without any romantic attachment. Or something. --amber

The Day After Christmas
The Day After ChristmasAnd all through the house...
The Floors are covered with New Toys...
Dinos...dolls...an ugly blouse.
Okay, I made up the ugly blouse part.
The thing I hate about Christmas (well, actually there are many things) is that the rooms have to be rearranged to accomodate the new junk. Somehow, this little house has to absorb two carfulls of Christmas booty.
The second thing that stinks about today is that this is the Very First Christmas I have celebrated where I had to go to work the next morning. Last year, I was still out of work from having Mira and before that I was always a student with a no-more-than part-time job.
And it was the most worthless day of work I have attended yet. Note I say "attended," as I did no real work today. My supervisor was out, the three others in our department were out. Heh. They'll all be back tomorrow (probably anyway) and I'll be gone (my very first personal day ever!).
